Arsenal hope £24m up-front payment for William Carvalho will convince Sporting Lisbon to sell

Arsenal are believed to be on the verge of making a £24m offer for William Carvalho, according to reports in Portugal.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is said to be on Arsene Wenger’s radar, having been linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea earlier this summer.
But it appears as though it will be the Gunners who make the first move as Wenger looks to add a defensive midfielder to his ranks before the end of the transfer window.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Sporting could be willing to accept Arsenal’s likely £24m bid, despite Carvalho having a £37m release clause in his contract
