WAYNE ROONEY insists Louis van Gaal’s decision to go Dutch will bring
the best out of him and turn Manchester United into champions again.
Van Gaal wants to use the same blueprint at United that helped him lead Holland to third place at the World Cup.
The new United boss will operate a 3-5-2 formation so that Rooney and Robin van Persie can play as a strike duo.
The former Bayern Munich and Ajax boss reckons the personnel at his
disposal suit the system better and it
also saves him having to axe one
of his star strikers from the team.
Rooney, who scored in United’s 7-0 thrashing of LA Galaxy in the
opening game of United’s pre-season tour of America this week, reckons
Van Gaal’s methods will take the fallen giants back to the top of the
game again.
The England star said: “It’s a good formation and it’s been good to work on it in training for a few days.
“It was always going to be interesting to see how it worked in a game
though and it worked well. It was a good result and good to get 45
minutes.
“We have a few weeks before the season starts and all this is just
preparing for the first game against Swansea. We have to try and put our
best efforts in to what he wants.
“Of course we can win the Premier League title. Last season was a bad
one, we know that, but we are confident we can put it right.
“We have to believe we can win the title.”
